I Just Had Hip Surgery

Surprise! I had hip surgery last week. I’ve mentioned it to a few people in comments and emails, but I didn’t want to really talk about it until it was over. What does this mean for the channel and the online store?  Watch this video and find out. At the end of the video I also mention a couple of larger projects coming up that you can look forward to in the coming weeks and months. (Click here if you can’t see the video below.)

  1. Bless your heart!! Hope you have a speedy recovery. I’ve really enjoyed the channel. Really sorry you have to have the other hip done 🙁 but maybe it will eventually add up to more mobility for you 😀 I have my challenges with wheelchairs and walkers. No surgery in my future because they can’t operate on Peripheral Neuropathy lol. Maybe I’m glad!! But I would sure like to see some detailed footage on your mobility challenges if you’re up to it. People don’t realize that you need that 36″ of walking space regardless of whether you are in a wheelchair, using a walker, on crutches, or with a cane. I have used all, and nearly been knocked over trying to walk on the sidewalk with folks who didn’t realize how much space and time I needed. You are in a unique position to tell folks about these conditions. Especially how that relates to your comfort in a vehicle. Take care, and I hope everything goes well for you. 1. Thanks for the kind words, Dannis! I’m sorry to hear about your medical troubles. I plan on doing a surgery update video in about a month, so I’ll try to include some footage then on my mobility challenges up to that point. Stay tuned for that 🙂

  2. Hang in there! There will certainly be ups and downs over the time of the surgeries and recoveries. Be sure to watch some of your own videos to remind yourself of your great trips and help you stay focused on the great trips that will come in the future. I’m recovering from back to back knee replacement right now, myself, and your video’s have been wonderful to watch to remind me that there are new adventures out there and sights to see after I recover.
    Be patient with your body.

    1. Thanks Karen. That’s a great idea to watch some of my older videos. I’ve probably forgotten most of what’s in them, so it’ll be like they’re brand new! But I’m happy to hear that they helped you with your own recover. That’s really great to hear. Hope your recovery continues to go well.

  3. Tristan,
Yes, surgery can be a bummer! But not having it can be much worse. 🙂
You will heal quickly, given your youth and good physical shape. I had knee surgery 11 months ago…just now getting back to normal, but I’m 71…longer to heal. Thanks again for all your good, informative, and scenic videos. Merry Christmas with family and friends.

    1. Thanks Dean. I agree that not having the surgery would be much worse! I’m not complaining. Just a little bit of a speed bump at the start of winter here. I’m lucky that I was able to get it done. Thanks for watching the videos, and Merry Christmas to you too!

  4. Take care my friend! I wish you all the best, I wish you a speedy 110% recovery and hope to see you suvrving and doing hiking adventures pretty soon!

  5. Cher Tristan,

    1. Thanks so much Chantale. I don’t know if I’m the best person to learn English from, but I’m happy that you like watching my videos 🙂 Merry Christmas to you too!
