It’s been called “the Machu Picchu of America.” While maybe not quite as spectacularly situated as Machu Puchhi, the Native American Ruins of Chaco Canyon in northwestern New Mexico are numerous, enormous, expansive, and very impressive. I had an amazing day in the mountains and deserts of southeastern Arizona. First up was a great hike through the heart of Chiricahua National Monument, and that was followed by a leisurely float down a remote desert river. Talk about a great day! (Click here if you can’t see the video below.)
