  1. Durango is one of my favorite southwestern CO university towns. I’ve taken the train ride up to Silverton three times now with different traveling companions. The San Juan mountain loop road is fabulous from Durango to Dolores. Driven that a lot. I like the little towns of Pagosa Springs and Cortez on either side of Durango also. Neat area with Mesa Verde right there.
